Die AVN Awards 2005 wurden am vergangenen Wochenende zum 22. Mal in Las Vegas verliehen.
Die über zwei Stunden dauernde glamouröse Show, moderiert von Thea Vidale und Vivid-Girl Savanna Samson, stand dabei ganz im Zeichen des Megastars Jenna Jameson, die gleich drei persönliche Awards (Best Actress – Film, Best Couples Sex Scene – Film, Best Girl-Girl Sex Scene – Film) erhielt.
Weiterhin wurden ihre beiden Produktionen „The Masseuse“ und „Bella Loves Jenna“ als „Best Film“ und „Best Video“ ausgezeichnet.
Als Krönung erhielt dann noch ihre Firma Club Jenna den Award für „Best Marketing Campaign – Company Image“. Dadurch erhielt die VIVID Company auch die meisten Awards als Label: 15 insgesamt, davon alleine 10 für die beiden Produktionen von Jenna Jameson.
Im Label-Ranking der verliehenen Awards kam dem Evil Angel mit 7 Awards am nächsten, gefolgt von Digital Playground (u.a. für „Jack’s Playground“ als „Best Gonzo Series“ und „Island Fever 3″ als „Best HD Production“), sowie Ninn Worx und Wicked Pictures mit je 5 Awards.
Angesichts der vielen Nominierungen für die großen Studios im Vorfeld überraschte es daher umso mehr, dass sich am Abend auch mehrere kleinere Firmen durchsetzen konnten und etliche der Awards für sich verbuchen konnten.
So erhielt unter anderem die Low Budget und Independent Produktion „Stuntgirl“, im Vertrieb von Hustler, gleich drei wichtige Awards für „Best All-Sex Video“, „Best Director“ – All Sex Release (Jack the Zipper) und „Best Couples Sex Scene“ – Video.
Aber auch Francesca Le schaffte mit ihrer Firma Lewood PRODUCTIONS schaffte einen Dreier-Sieg und wurde mit den Awards für „Best Oral Sex Scene“ – Video, „Best Oral Themed Series“ und „Best Specialty Release“ – Big Bust ausgezeichnet. Außerdem wurde Francescca Le auch noch in die „Hall Of Fame“ aufgenommen.
Aus europäischer Sicht glänzte wiedermal das spanische Label IFG (in den USA im Vertrieb von Smash Pictures), die für „Hot Rats“ als „Best Foreign feature“ ausgezeichnet wurden. Ferner wurde Regisseur Narcis Bosch zum „Best Foreign Director“ gewählt.
Nicht ganz unerwartet gingen die Awards für „Best New Starlet“ und „Best Female / Male performer“ an Cytherea, die auch noch einen Award für die Elegant Angel Produktion „Cytherea iz Squirtwoman“ als „Best Specialty Release“ – Other Genre“ erhielt, sowie Lauren Phoenix und Manuel Ferrara. Letzterer erhielt zudem gemeinsam mit Venus auch noch die Auszeichnung für die „Best Couples Sex Scene“ – Video in „Stuntgirl“.
In der Kategorie „Best director“ glänzte erneut Vivid und so erhielten Paul Thomas (Film) für „The Masseuse“ und David Stanley für „Pretty Girl“ (Video) je einen Award. David Stanley konnte sich außerdem noch mit Ashley Blue („Best Supporting Actress“ – Video) über einen Award für sein Werk „Adore“ freuen.
Die Awards für die besten Hauptrollen gingen an Jessica Drake für „Fluff and Fold“ (Wicked Pictures) und Barret Blade für seine Leistung in „Loaded“ (Digital Playground). Blade zeigte sich bei der Verleihung gewohnt cool und gab Hollywood-like den Spruch: „Let’s fuckin‘ make this shit quick!“ von sich.
Nach ihrem überragenden Erfolg in Barcelona setzte sich die französische Darstellerin Katsumi auch in Vegas durch und siegte in den Kategorien: „Female Foreign Performer of the Year“ und „Best Foreign All-Sex feature“ aufgrund ihrer Präsenz in der Michael Ninn Produktion „Lost Angels: Katsumi“.
Musikalisch war auch diesmal wieder Rap angesagt und so gewann Lloyd Banks zweimal. Zum einen erhielt er für die Produktion „Groupie Love“ (Digital Sin) den Award für die „Best Interactive DVD“ und zum anderen den Award für die „Best Music“. Musikalischer Gast während der Verleihung war unter anderem auch sein Kollege Chingy.
Im Bereich „Classic DVD“ siegte die remasterte Version von „Deep Throat“ und AVN-Gründer Paul Fishbein erinnerte an die zwei Regie-Legenden Russ Meyer und Jim Holliday, die im letzten Jahr verstorben sind.
